Tender Techniques Doula Services

The dictionary meaning of:

Doula

The word "doula" is a Greek word meaning women’s servant. Women have been serving other women in childbirth for many centuries and have proven that support from another woman has a positive impact on the labor process!

If you had a "friend" to sit down and talk birth with, would you do it with someone who is grossed out by it or someone who is very passionate in what they do?  I didn't always know that I wanted to be a Doula.  In fact as a child it started out with wanting to be a pediatrician!  And with unplanned bumps and turns somehow being a Doula became my calling.  It hit me right upside the head one day after birthing my own son. (What I didn't have became what I truly wanted to provide for other birthing mama's)  So let's begin by getting your questions answered.

As your Doula I am there to support you in whichever way you can imagine.  Should we imagine together?

1. Support.  Whether it is verbal, physical, or emotional support I am there for you.  To help you to be able to have the birth that you are thinking of.

2. What kind of birth are you thinking of?  I provide assistance to home births, birth centers, and hospitals.  How do you envision a home birth going?  Calm music, candles glowing, affirmations tapped up in front of your space so you can read them as you are riding each wave?  Or at a hospital.  Do you want to move around as much as humanly possible?  Change positions in bed? Have pain medication/epidural? NO matter which way you want to birth, I am there FOR YOU.

3. Do you think you would prefer quietness with gentle coxing or would you rather have someone that is in your face making sure you use those low growling noises to get you through?

POINT is - Talking all this out is what I do best.  Listening to exactly what you are hoping to have and helping you along the way to get there.  I can't promise you will get exactly what you want but I can promise that you will have a person who is empathetic, sympathetic, and knowledgeable to the birthing world, right there beside you.
