A. Every baby is beautiful. Yours just happened to enter the world with needing some medical help. No matter what the reason is on why your baby is in the NICU, capturing how things are at THAT time are going to be memories that you will want to have. Emotions are high. Stress is there. But these sessions have been known to be helpful later once the parents have had time to process the unexpected way their baby began.
A. At every session I always ask the parents what kind of things they would want to capture. These sessions are lifestyle which means no posing.
Some ideas could be;Baby in the isolate or bassinet. The monitor showing vitals.Any signage, footprints, notes of progress.Tiny fingers, feet, belly buttons. (This depends on level that the baby is at)Feedings of any kind.Baby’s bath.Any care that has to be done. Snuggles with you aka bonding. (including kangaroo care). Siblings are encouraged if the NICU will allow it.
Most importantly I will only capture what the baby can handle. Nurses are more than welcome to assist.
A. Generally sessions last 45 minutes to an hour. But this is based on how well the baby is tolerating being photographed.
A. Currently this is a free service. (This could change at any time) However, I do accept gifts but they are never required. I know just how stressful a NICU stay can be. I have had two babies in the NICU. No one should have to go without pictures due to a tight budget.
A. If I have been or someone in my household has been sick, I will reschedule our session out at least 7 days after we are healthy. If you are concerned I will gladly wear a mask, just ask.
If you need to reschedule I will do my best to accommodate however I can not guarantee that my schedule will allow me to get there before your baby is released.
I will be sensitive to your situation.I can coordinate sessions with care times if you prefer.I do not use flash, ever!I will be mindful to staff and other family members. If we need nurses to help, I am comfortable asking. I follow all HIPPA regulations.
I am not apart of Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. They will need to be contacted if needed.
